ABSTRACT In an attempt to bolster public confidence in the accounting profession, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 was signed into law on July 30, 2002, by President George W. Bush. The Act, which many consider the most significant change to securities law since the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934, fundamentally changes the way that public enterprises conduct business and how the accounting profession performs audits.
